We are hiring a Manager for our Country Food and Bulk Store

QCFC is seeking a full-time Country Food and Bulk Store Manager for its facility in the heart of Iqaluit. In conformance with Article 23 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, preference will be given to Inuit applicants. Housing is not available.

QCFC is a registered charity that strives to strengthen health, belonging and food sovereignty in Iqaluit. QCFC works in partnership with Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC). Location: Qajuqturvik Community Food Centre, Iqaluit, Nunavut

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Reports To: Co-Executive Directors

Base salary: $90,000-$100,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:

Set-up and maintain retail operation systems (pay systems, product/inventory systems)

Oversee and manage daily operations of the store, includes procurement and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment

Oversee and maintain quality control of all aspects related to the country food/bulk store (products, supplies, equipment)

Oversee and manage store staff (2-4 reports)

Create, order and maintain country food and bulk store inventory lists

Create, and maintain track flow of country food orders

Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, community organizations, partners, funders, donors in the management and smooth operations of the store and includes for programming purposes (weekly country food boxes, Inuliqtait Food Box tool kit, country food market etc.

Ensure food safe environment in all food prep and storage spaces

Serve as a representative for QCFC within the community

Uphold and advocate QCFC values in our community

Skills required:

Strong knowledge and experience in retail operations and management

Strong knowledge and experience in managing staff and customer relations

Strong knowledge and experience with managing and maintaining retail budget

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and ideas to different audiences (staff, partners, customers, vendors)

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines

Flexible and adaptable to work in a dynamic environment and respond effectively to changing circumstances and priorities

Strong knowledge and experience safely handling country food

Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment

Cultural Competency: Sensitivity to and understanding of Inuit culture

Knowledge of Inuktut is a strong asset

Compensation

$90,000-$100,000 depending on experience

$2500 Inuktut bilingual bonus

This role is flexible and may be developed with a candidate’s specific skill set in mind. Travel may be required. Overtime and or flexible work hours may be required.
